The Pantone Color of the Year for 2014 has been announced, and it is Radiant Orchid. I am totally in love with this color, and found a little bit brighter version at Taim Boutique. You can wear this color now with darker colors, sequins and glitter, and later on in the spring and summer with white and other bright colors!
Finally got my @allglammedup nameplate necklace from BaubleBar for Christmas!
Are you in love with the new Pantone Color of the Year as well??
Merry Christmas, everyone!!
I am so excited to be the co-host of this week's Four Favorites link-up, hosted by Kristin of Fancy Things and Ashlyn of Let It Be Beautiful, and this week's theme is Christmas Favorites (how fitting!). My family and I usually just stay home and watch Christmas movies all day, so I usually stay in my pjs and slippers, hence some of the coziness going on in this post!
1. Elf: This is my absolute favorite Christmas movie and I watch it at least a few times every Christmas season (I'm actually watching it right now...).
2. LC Lauren Conrad Sweatshirt: If you haven't already noticed, I'm kind of obsessed with anything that's gold or has polka dots, so this sweatshirt is just perfect for me. Throw on a puffer vest and some jeans for going to the movies with the fam, and you're good to go!
3. Michael Kors Glitter Slippers (ON SALE!): Because I usually stay home all day on Christmas, I definitely want to be comfy, but still look cute, so these slippers are the perfect touch of glam to your Christmas pjs!
4. Sugar Paper LA Thank You Cards: After receiving so many presents from friends and family, it's time to get crackin' on those thank you cards! I'll admit, I've never been the best at getting my thank you cards out, but writing on these gorgeous Sugar Paper cards would make it so much more fun!
I hope you all had a very merry Christmas with friends and family!
UPCOMING THEMES: January 1 - New Years Day Favorites | January 8 - Radiant Orchid Favorites
So I've been a bit behind on blogging lately... Mostly because I just finished up finals and needed to put my focus towards studying and finishing up my final projects. But there's another reason why...
Ever since I moved to LA, I've felt lonely and sluggish, despite all of the chaos around me. I don't know what it is about this city, but it totally changes you, and in my case, for the worse. I've noticed that I get irritated much more easily now, I don't want to get out of bed and face the day, I have no motivation to exercise, etc. It is called "Tinseltown," but LA is not all that it's cracked up to be. I do know I'm not alone in this thought, because we were actually talking about it in one of my classes, and Meghan Rosette was also talking about how she "hates LA" and feels like she doesn't have any friends here in one of her recent Vlogmas videos.
Before I moved, I was very involved at my church, and was going to chapel on Sunday night, and college group on Thursday night. After moving, I still made it down for Thursday nights, but it wasn't enough for me. I tried out a church in Hollywood, but was too scared to try and get involved, and felt like I would be "cheating" on my church at home (I know, that sounds ridiculous...). I think not going to church for about three months (longest I've gone without going to church), has made a big impact on me. I haven't been getting the spiritual nourishment that I need, and I feel like my soul is so thirsty.
This morning, I decided to pull out my Jesus Calling book (I've fallen behind on that too..), was catching up on the last few days, and December 17th really hit home for me. Here's what it said:
"Come to Me with your gaping emptiness, knowing that in Me you are complete. As you rest quietly in My Presence, My Light within you grows brighter and brighter. Facing the emptiness inside you is simply the prelude to being filled with My fullness. Therefore, rejoice on those days when you drag yourself out of bed, feeling sluggish and inadequate. Tell yourself that this is a perfect day to depend on Me in childlike trust. If you persevere in this dependence as you go through the day, you will discover at bedtime that Joy and Peace have become your companions. You may not realize at what point they joined you on your journey, but you will feel the beneficial effects of their presence. The perfect end to such a day is a doxology of gratitude. I am He from whom all blessings flow!"
This was exactly what I needed this morning, because I was feeling exactly what it said: "empty, sluggish and inadequate." Lately, as in the past couple years, I have started to depend more on material things, like clothes, makeup, money, etc. for fulfillment instead of God's love, peace, joy, etc. It's so hard to always remember to do, but it's SO necessary.
I moved here not only to attend the FIDM LA campus, but to also be a light, and I am completely failing at that. I just need to depend on God and His light will shine through me and it will "grow brighter and brighter."
If you're still reading this, props to you! I had so many thoughts running through my mind while writing this, and I would not be surprised it if it was hard to follow.
One of my favorite trends that I have been seeing lately this winter is pastel colors. I love this because I get so tired of wearing all those dark colors that are usually on trend for the fall and winter seasons, and to be honest, it actually makes me kind of depressed!
I've rounded up some of my favorite pastel pieces that are (for the most part) budget friendly.
Jeweled Sweater: J.Crew | Essie Nail Polishes: Pink A Boo, Mint Candy Apple, Bikini So Teeny, Full Steam Ahead | Wrap Skirt: Topshop | Crossbody Purse: Forever 21 | Scarf: Forever 21 | High Low Tee: Topshop | Cocoon Coat: J.Crew
Shop more of my pastel picks (and pieces that will finish the look):
It's time for the second part of my gift guide, and this time it's for him. These are all great gifts that you could get for your boyfriend, husband, brother, dad, friend, etc. If you're stumped and don't know what to get for whatever "him" you're shopping for, you won't go wrong with any of these.
Justin Timberlake 20/20 CD: Target | Plaid Shirt: Banana Republic | Henley Sweater: J.Crew | Lavender Shaving Cream: Art of Shaving | Suede Boots: Target | Phone Car Mount: Target | Magic Bullet: Target | Timex Watch: J.Crew

The Ultimate Guide To Hosting A Holiday Party
Thursday, December 5, 2013It is now the first week of December which means that it’s officially time to get into holiday mode. I don’t know about you, but the month of December is always full of different gatherings and parties for me, and I usually end up hosting one as well. There is a lot of thought and planning that goes into hosting a holiday party, which is why I've created a guide to help you in your holiday party endeavors.
The Guest List
Creating the guest list for a party is VERY important. Of course, you are going to want to invite your closest friends. But do you mind letting them bring a plus one? If you decide to let them, you should assume that about half of the invitees will bring someone with them. A hostess should also consider how well the guests will all mingle together. Will your work friends get along with your personal friends? Do you even want to mix your different groups of friends? These are both very important questions to consider.
Here's a cute template to keep track of who's coming and who's bringing what:
Invitations
After creating the guest list, the next task is to send out invites. You need to decide if you want to send out a virtual invite, or do it the old-fashioned way and use paper invitations.
If you do decide to use virtual invites, you can use evite, Paperless Post, Punchbowl, or just Facebook. If I were hosting a party, I would probably use paper invites, just because I feel like they are more personal and won't get lost in your inbox. They are, however, more expensive.
I think choosing the right style of invitation is important because it somewhat sets the tone for what kind of party you are having. For example, if you are hosting a semi-formal soirée, you would probably want to use something simple, yet elegant (gold, silver, cursive...), and if you are hosting a baking party & movie night, you could get away with fun and colorful invites.
Here are some of my favorites:
Whenever I host a party, it always seems that figuring out what food to buy/make is the most stressful part of the whole thing. If you are having a party in the evening, you will definitely need to have quite a few different appetizers. It's always good to have a fruit & veggie plate, as well as some sort of cheese & cracker plate.
I usually make the BBQ meatballs for every party I host/attend, and they're always a hit! I use the party meatballs & BBQ sauce from Trader Joe's
Here are some other fun & festive options:

Sparkling Holiday Punch | Frosted Candy Champagne | Champagne Chantilly Shooters | Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Entertaining
If you don't plan any fun activities, your guests will most likely get bored and want to leave. Here are some fun ideas to entertain your guests at at your party:
Karaoke
If you have a karaoke machine, find a Christmas karaoke CD and take turns singing your favorite Christmas carols.
Photo Booth
Having a photo booth at any party is always fun. Gather together or make some fun props for the guests to use and set up a little area with a camera.
Christmas Gift Wrap Relay
Set up an assembly line of gifts, wrapping paper, scissors, tape, ribbon and gift tags, and divide all of your guests into teams depending on how many people there are. Have everyone be responsible for one element of gift wrapping, and see which team can finish first and wrap their present the best!
Gift Exchange
You can go along with the "White Elephant" rules, or even create your own theme (i.e. gifts that start with M, gifts that are gold, etc.). And make sure to set a price limit and let everyone know beforehand!
Decorations
For a Christmas party, the decorations are perhaps one of the most important details about the party (in my opinion). There are so many different directions you can go nowadays, so let's take a look at some of the styles and color combos.
Classic Red
Glam Gold
Pretty in Pink
Merry & Bright
The Outfit
The final part of hosting a holiday party that you need to take care of is the outfit. It all depends on how casual or formal your party is, so here are some casual, informal, and semi-formal outfits for you to gain inspiration from:
Casual
Informal
Semi-Formal
And that, my friends, is how you throw a FAB holiday party! Enjoy, and be sure to share pictures of your creations with me!
Top: JCPenney (ON SALE!) | Jeans: Silver Jeans (c/o) | Heels: Rachel Zoe (via Rue La La) | Clutch: American Eagle (ON SALE!) | Sunglasses: LeSpecs | Watch: Rakani Watches (c/o) | Necklace: Vintage | Lips: CoverGirl
So I FINALLY went out and bought something plaid! I've been wanting to get a plaid button up shirt, but I haven't found the perfect one yet. I really like this plaid on chiffon look though--it's so classy and chic.
I also want to mention these amazing Silver Jeans. They are the perfect fit and I love the classic wash. Keep an eye out, because you will have a chance to win a pair in a couple weeks (along with some other great stuff)!
